Neck Liposuction - (Lipoplasy)

As we age, certain areas of the body can accumulate fat that is hard to lose, in spite of a healthy diet and vigorous exercise. The neck is one such area. Fatty deposits in the neck can detract from the appearance of the entire body, making a younger person seem older, or a fit person seem out of shape. Liposuction can give this area a new streamlined contour, enhancing the effect of facial features and improving he profile.

Liposuction in this area produces consistently good results, and has a high satisfaction rate. Sometimes a facelift is necessary in order to tighten the skin of the face and fat removal alone is not appropriate or satisfactory. Dr. Walker will help determine the proper procedure for your problem area at the time of your consultation.

What is the procedure like?

Neck liposuction is performed as an outpatient under a local (tumescent) anesthetic technique. You are awake for the procedure, though sedation with oral medication is often used. Tiny incisions are made under the chin and behind the ear lobule. A thin cannula is inserted which is passed through the fatty area and suctioned out using a vacuum system. This removes the unwanted fat, leaving skin, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels intact.

The procedure takes about one and a half-hours to perform and you go home that day to be followed in the office as an outpatient. This is not a painful procedure and oral medication is provided for any discomfort.
